The Detroit Tigers will likely need infield and bullpen help for the 2010 season but they will be shopping in the bargain bin. To replace Placido Polanco at 2B the Tigers will likely contact Felipe Lopez, Ronnie Belliard and Adam Kennedy. None of those names jump off the page but Lopez has the highest upside of that bunch. At shortstop Juan Uribe and Alex Gonzalez might be of some interest to the Tigers. The Tigers could be in the market for a new closer with Fernando Rodney likely moving on so Billy Wagner, Rafael Soriano, Mike Gonzalez and Kevin Gregg will likely be considered. If they choose Gregg for some reason then they will have to make sure the set-up crew is pretty good. Set up relievers who might be in the Tigers’ price range include guys like Danys Baez, Kiko Calero, Brendan Donnelly, Bobby Howry, Russ Springer or David Weathers. None of those guys are anything to write home about though.
